Software
Here you can find some very good tablature editors. Most of them are freeware or shareware.
- TAB by Wayne Cripps. Freeware that runs on Linux and Mac, is "the father of all the lute tablature editors". For the technologically challanged Wayne recommends running TAB by mail, which lets you process tab on your computers by mail, using the most
up-to-date version of TAB. The German lutenist Rainer aus dem Spring is also taking care of a version of TAB for Windows.
- Fronimo 3.0 for Windows by Francesco Tribioli. This is an excellent program, very complete and "user friendly". Fronimo is now available also in German, French and Italian: fronimoresdeu.dll (deutsche UI für Fronimo);
fronimoresfra.dll (interface française pour Fronimo); fronimoresesp.dll (interface en español para Fronimo);
fronimoresita.dll (interfaccia italiana per Fronimo). To use the dll files with the localized Fronimo interface it is sufficient
to put them in the same directory where Fronimo is installed. The program
will found them automatically and the relative language will be selectable
in the Options menu.
- Django by Alain Veylit.
With this software you will be able to edit tablatures not only for lutes and early guitars, but also for a variety of plucked instruments.
- Tastar de Corde for Mac, by Terrell Stone. To purchase this program you will have to contact Terrell.
GOOD LUCK :-)!
